Mentored Learning FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What materials do I receive in an Mentored Learning class? You will receive a certified student manual which provides information to supplement the lecture content as well as lab exercises. This is the same student manual that is issued for our traditional instructor-led classes.

How long do Mentored Learning classes take to complete versus traditional Instructor-Led classes? Mentored Learning courses cover the same material and labs however our experience has been that most students will complete the course in 80% of the time used in Instructor-Led training (ILT). For example, a traditional 5-day ILT course would normally be completed in 8 half-day Mentored Learning sessions.

What is the cancellation policy? You may reschedule any Mentored Learning registration without penalty at least 24 hours notice (exclusive of non-business days). Please send all notices via the Mentor Learning Manager. Notifications less than 24 hours or a "no-show" will result in the loss of one Mentored Learning session for the current class. You are given 2 extra sessions per class as extra time to complete the course; unused session do not carry over. You may purchase extra sessions beyond the ones granted if you need additional time.

Is there any limit on the number of sessions I take to complete a course via Mentored Learning? You may use an additional two (2) sessions for each course you attend at no additional charge. Extra sessions to complete a course may be purchased at $100 per session. You have a maximum of sixty calendar days to complete a course from the date of the first session.

What is the repeat policy for Mentored Learning? You may repeat a Mentored Learning class in a future Instructor-led version of the class within 6 months as offered. There is no charge so long as you bring your student manual to class and that the version of the manual has not changed. You may purchase a new manual if necessary. You can not repeat a Mentored Learning class in the Mentored Learning classroom without additional fees.

If I attend an Instructor-Led (ILT) class, can I repeat it in the Mentored Learning classroom? No, repeats for ILT are available only as ILT.

If I attend a Mentored Learning course, can I repeat it as Instructor-Led (ILT)? Yes. Remember you must bring your class materials. If the class materials have been revised, you will be required to purchase the newer version to repeat the class.

If I start a Mentored Learning class and don’t like it, can I switch to traditional Instructor-Led? Yes, simply talk to your Account Executive/Education Counselor. If your issues cannot be addressed we'll be happy to schedule you in the next Instructor-Led version of the same class at no charge.

Can I get a refund if I complete a Mentored Learning course in less than the suggested length? No, just take your time.

Can I access the Mentored Learning training from home or office? Yes, remote access to the Lecture content is available for an additional fee. Ask your Account Executive or Education Consultant for additional information.

How far in advance does a student need to book a session? Depending on the space available, a student can book a session with as little as four hours notice if you are continuing a class already in progress; 72 hours (exclusive of non-business days) is required to start a new class (assuming we have the appropriate courseware in stock). If we do not have the courseware in stock, 5 business days advanced notice is required before starting a new class.
