VA GI-BILL Benefit ResourcesNew Horizons Computer Learning Center of Knoxville is proud to support veteran's careers with VA Approved Technical Training programs. We can help you through the entire process including all the paperwork. Below are the basic steps to take full advantage of your GI-BILL education benefits. In order to register using the GI-BILL Education Benefits, you must: 1) Provide a copy of VA Form DD-214: Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214 forms online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov. 2) Complete VA Form 22-1990: Application for VA Education Benefits. You may obtain a copy of this form by visiting: http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/22-1990.pdf. Once completed, bring the form to us for submittal. You may now apply for veteran's benefits online by using the VONAPP (Veterans On Line Applications) website. Please visit http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/about_vonapp.asp to use the online application process. 3) Select a VA-approved program.
A+ Certified Technician 4) Provide a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (see sample). 5) Register for your classes and start training. 6) We will submit VA Form 22-1999: Enrollment Certification for Training. 7) Almost everyone receiving MGIB-Active Duty benefits, as well as those in the Selected Reserve, must verify their enrollment each month to receive payment for that month. Enrollment can be verified on the last calendar day of the month by using the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) at https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave or by calling the toll-free Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone line at 1-877-823-2378. In order to remain enrolled (and continue to receive your benefits) you must attend class or lab 18 hours minimum per week. A 2-week absence without written notice will result in your program termination. Veterans may also request reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses on vendor exams at http://www.gibill.va.gov/pamphlets/lcweb.htm.
